Skincare in late summer: How to prepare your skin for autumn

Skincare, seasonality

Your skin doesn't know seasons. But it does feel the change.

Why is late summer the right moment to rethink your skincare routine? The evenings are getting cooler, there’s a crispness in the air each morning, and while tomatoes, herbs, and the last of the summer blooms are still in their prime in the garden, autumn is slowly making its arrival known. What we do intuitively: eat differently, dress more warmly, and spend more time indoors. What we often forget: our skin also needs to adapt to new conditions. After weeks of sun, heat, sweat, air conditioning, travel, or perhaps salt and chlorinated water, skin can feel drier, more unsettled, or less even. At the same time, cooler temperatures and eventually dry indoor heating bring new challenges. Late summer is therefore not the time for a radical skincare reset. Rather, it is a good opportunity to take a closer look: What does my skin need now?

01 Less is sometimes more: gentle cleansing

When your skin starts to feel tight, more cream isn't automatically the answer. Cleansing also determines how comfortable your skin feels afterward.

The VENYA Healthy Aging Cleanser uses particularly mild surfactants to cleanse away sebum, dirt, and makeup without unnecessarily drying out the skin. Its pH value of 4.9 is modeled on our skin’s acidic environment. Aloe vera, natural moisturizing factors, and panthenol complement the gentle cleansing. Our late summer tip: use lukewarm water instead of hot—especially as temperatures drop outside.

02 Keep that summer glow – without aggressive exfoliants

After the summer, skin can feel a bit rougher or more uneven. Trying to counteract this with aggressive scrubs isn't necessarily the best idea. The Healthy Aging Toner takes a gentler approach: the peptide Hexanoyl Dipeptide-3 Norleucine supports the natural shedding of skin cells. At the same time, natural moisturizing factors and panthenol provide hydration. This way, "exfoliation" becomes a regular care step rather than a radical fresh start.

03 Make hydration a daily ritual now

Late summer skin doesn't necessarily need heavy care. Above all, it needs one thing: a good moisture balance. This is where the Healthy Aging Multi-Functional Serum comes into play. Cross-linked hyaluronic acid and various peptides support hydration and a smoother complexion. The serum also supports aquaporins—the skin cells' own water channels—helping to retain moisture within the skin. A principle that fits well with Healthy Aging: not putting as much as possible on the skin, but specifically supporting its own functions.

04 Don't forget the thinnest skin

The eye area has special needs and can show dryness quite quickly. The Healthy Aging Eye Cream combines cross-linked hyaluronic acid, peptides, and ceramides with VENYA's lipid-lamellar technology. It is based on the structure of the natural skin barrier, supports moisture retention, and helps to visibly reduce puffiness and dark circles. Especially when the days are getting busier, this is a small care step with a great ritual effect: gently pat it in with your ring finger, morning and night.

05 Prepare your skin barrier for cooler days

Now comes the crucial seasonal switch.

The Healthy Aging Cream contains 16% care lipids and is suitable as light care for normal and combination skin. Its lipid-lamellar technology is modeled on the structure of the skin barrier. Ceramides, niacinamide, panthenol, and hyaluronic acid complement the formula.

If your skin becomes increasingly dry as temperatures fall, switching to the Cream Rich with 24% care lipids may make sense later on. Important: The calendar shouldn't decide when your skin needs more care—your skin does. Tightness, dryness, and rough patches are better indicators than the first day of September.

And what about the body?

Our body skin also experiences the change of seasons. Although long, hot showers feel particularly good when temperatures drop, they can put additional stress on dry skin. The Healthy Aging Shower Foam cleanses very mildly and has an acidic pH of 4.5. This 3-in-1 product is suitable for showering, intimate hygiene, and as a gentle shaving foam. Panthenol complements the formula. Our tip for the coming cozy season: keep showers shorter and lukewarm—and turn your daily shower into a conscious, small ritual.

There is one summer ritual you shouldn't say goodbye to yet: sun protection, or SPF. Even in cooler temperatures, we are exposed to UV radiation. The UV index describes the strength of ultraviolet radiation—regardless of how warm or cold it feels outside. The WHO recommends sun protection measures as soon as the UV index reaches 3. Therefore, it is worth checking the current UV index even on a mild late summer day before heading out for a walk, lunch outdoors, or gardening.

After your VENYA morning routine, we therefore recommend a suitable sunscreen whenever the UV index calls for it. Our sister-brand tip: V.SUN as the final step before makeup.

Because for us, Healthy Aging does not mean fighting against getting older. It means giving our skin what it needs to remain healthy, balanced, and resilient for as long as possible.
