Skin care - atopic dermatitis in focus
Transitional period: The first crocuses show their flowers, but the mornings and nights are still characterized by cold temperatures and dry heating air.
These temperature changes are an extreme challenge for our skin, especially if you have neurodermatitis.
In the still cold months, we usually experience our skin as more sensitive, mostly on the hands and face, because it is precisely these skin areas that are exposed to the changed weather conditions without protection. While our skin counteracts UV radiation with a thicker horny layer in summer, it decreases in winter in our latitudes. As a result, we feel dryness and irritability of our skin, which is why allergens can also affect it. The noticeable cold means that the regular flow of sebum and the hydrolipid film of our skin get out of balance and cause a loss of moisture.
And when the weather changes rapidly and temperatures fluctuate, our skin has to work at high pressure and adapt to the new conditions.
With moisturizing and moisturizing components in our care products, we can support our skin in its balance between the seasons.
If you look at shelf goods in drugstores and advisory goods in pharmacies, health food stores and perfumeries, you will encounter the most diverse container terms in view of the countless products available on the market of possibilities: According to the names, our skin can be normal, sensitive, sensitive, irritated, dry, low in moisture , unclean, reddened, problematic, flaky, inflamed, allergic, ripe or demanding etc. And more precisely, you don't want to have to relate any of these attributes to your own skin, because it should be beautiful, healthy and vital. These terms are therefore of little help if you are looking for compatible products that meet your individual and current skin needs.
Changes in the skin provide information about the unmet needs of our skin and valuable information for the selection of adequate care products. First of all, it is fundamentally about the ratio of moisturizing and moisturizing substances, which fluctuates depending on the season.
Because potential skin-irritating ingredients can also be harmful, it is worth checking which ingredients are contained in products and which (side) effects they can have.
In the event of redness, irritation, itching, increasing dryness and flaking, a dermatologist should be consulted in order to diagnose possible skin diseases and allergies and to include medical treatment options. Nevertheless, the daily basic care of those with healthy skin and those with skin diseases is in your own hands. We only have this one skin that needs to be cherished and cared for! And not only in the presence of a chronic skin disease such as neurodermatitis.
Neurodermatitis itself is based on a complex structure, because a disturbed skin barrier, changed immunological processes and deviations in the microbiome come together, some of which are genetic.
Atopic dermatitis sufferers, like everyone else, with more or less healthy skin, are faced with purchasing decisions in view of the market of possibilities. People who are responsible for the skin therefore question, regardless of whether they are looking in a drugstore, pharmacy, perfumery, cosmetic studio or online shop, how they can support their skin sensibly with daily cleaning and care, as it takes on a wide variety of tasks for us.
With natural moisture factors in skin care, for example, we support the barrier function. The pH value plays an important role for our protective skin coat, especially with neurodermatitis it should be slightly acidic. Likewise, lipid replenishing factors support the skin barrier, for example ceramides as lipids. If possible, fragrances should not be included in order to avoid additional irritation. And of course, those with healthy skin and those with challenged skin should first test new products on the wrist for individual tolerance.
Since the beginning of the corona pandemic, additional challenges have been placed on our skin, especially in conjunction with the prevailing season. People not only suffering from chronic skin diseases experience a deterioration in their complexion, as masks irritate the skin, cause dry eyes, dry out the lips, lead to heat build-up and occlusion effects and can also cause scattering reactions on the neck and face. Even people who have not previously had neurodermatitis suddenly feel irritated and reddened skin, preferably on their hands and face.
And so it is wise to use at least two different care products on the face, depending on the season, weather and skin texture or skin needs, which have different proportions of moisturizing and moisturizing ingredients.
At VENYA, skin protection barrier-friendly lipids are used by means of lipid lamellar technology (also known as DMS). Here, the protective function of our skin is specifically strengthened. In addition, the acidic pH value (4.9) adjusted to the acidic skin environment strengthens the microbiome, which is particularly beneficial for the natural bacterial balance in neurodermatitis *. The VENYA products are also all without fragrances for the best possible compatibility.
(* In atopic dermatitis there is an imbalance of the staphylococci - S. aureus is more strongly located on the skin than S. epidermidis)
